Drawing on its academic expertise, applied research, technical capacity, and stakeholder networks, BAU contributes across different stages of the policy cycle from identifying national and sectoral challenges and generating evidence, to developing policies, strategies, curricula, and action plans, supporting implementation, monitoring progress, and informing continuous improvement and adaptive management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro-p wp-block-paragraph\">BAU\u2019s policy engagement extends across key dimensions of sustainable development, including environmental protection and climate action, water governance, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), research and innovation, agriculture, youth empowerment, community development, and educational policy. Through collaboration with national authorities and <strong>international partners<\/strong>, including the European Union (EU), GIZ, KOICA, UNESCO, and other development and academic partners, the University contributes academic and technical expertise to policy discussions, national committees, strategic initiatives, and multi-stakeholder processes that address emerging development challenges and national priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro-p wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>At the national level<\/strong>, BAU works with government institutions, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry of Environment and other relevant public bodies, to strengthen education and training systems, develop curricula, align programmes with labour-market needs, establish research priorities, and support policy and strategic planning. Its participation in national environmental assessments, research and innovation committees, vocational education initiatives, curriculum-development processes, and climate-related planning further demonstrates how university expertise is connected to public-sector decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro-p wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>At the regional level<\/strong>, BAU contributes to collaborative initiatives addressing shared sustainable development challenges, particularly water management, climate resilience, innovation, and capacity development. These partnerships provide mechanisms for exchanging knowledge, identifying common challenges, developing practical approaches, and informing strategies for sustainable development. Through its International Research Center for Water, Environment and Energy (IRCWEE), BAU participated in the preparation of Jordan\u2019s Third State of the Environment Report in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and other experts and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro-p wp-block-paragraph\">BAU contributed particularly to the report\u2019s sections on air quality and climate change, providing academic and technical expertise that supported environmental assessment, evidence-based decision-making, and the development of strategies for a more sustainable future. The event brought together representatives from academic institutions, professional associations, government entities, civil society, and the private sector. Participating local partners included ALHALAT, the Agricultural Engineers Association, and Jordan University of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"intro-p wp-block-paragraph\">The focus group provided a platform for cross-sectoral dialogue on the challenges facing the adoption of smart organic agriculture technologies in Jordan, the need for specialized skills, and priorities for agricultural development.
