Public Resources (Lifelong Learning)
Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) extends learning opportunities beyond its enrolled student population by providing free access to educational resources and lifelong learning opportunities for members of the wider community. Through an inclusive and accessible approach to education, BAU enables individuals who are not enrolled as university students to develop their knowledge, skills, and competencies through a range of learning and capacity-building opportunities.
These opportunities include free courses and training programmes that may lead to certificates or other forms of recognition; free access to selected university facilities, learning infrastructure, and educational equipment; and access to publicly available online educational and digital learning resources. These resources and opportunities enable community members to benefit from the university’s educational environment, expertise, and infrastructure beyond formal degree programmes.
Through these initiatives, the university promotes lifelong learning, knowledge sharing, skills development, and community engagement, supporting individuals in continuing their education and developing competencies throughout different stages of life.
Free Courses Leading to Certificate or Award
BAU provides free training courses and capacity-building programmes for members of the wider community across a broad range of technical, professional, digital, and educational fields. These programmes extend learning and professional development opportunities to individuals beyond the university’s enrolled student population.
Examples include:
• The Training of Trainers (ToT) courses, programmes, supporting participants in developing training and instructional competencies.
• Social Media Digital Marketing Course, training, developing practical digital marketing skills.
• Statistical Analysis Course , training for Public Security personnel, strengthening data analysis and professional competencies.
• Public Health and Occupational Safety courses, training, supporting workplace health and safety knowledge.
• Water-sector training programmes delivered in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, combining theoretical and practical capacity building in the operation and maintenance of water-sector facilities.
BAU also provides inclusive community-based learning opportunities through initiatives such as My Community and DIGIWAVE, supporting digital skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, mentoring, and participation of groups from the wider community.
Free Access to Campus Facilities, Equipment and Online Resources
BAU has 15 campuses distributed across northern, central, and southern Jordan, providing an extensive educational infrastructure that can support community learning and knowledge-sharing activities.
Selected university facilities and equipment are made available to the wider community for educational, training, cultural, and knowledge-sharing purposes. These include lecture halls, theatres, classrooms, laboratories, specialized equipment, research facilities, cultural facilities, sports facilities, and other learning spaces.
Examples of community and external educational use include training workshops for school students, professional development activities for teachers, and educational and cultural events involving participants from outside the university.
Through these facilities, BAU extends the benefits of its educational infrastructure beyond its formal student population and supports accessible lifelong learning opportunities
BAU also provides publicly accessible online educational resources that enable individuals beyond the formal student population to continue learning and develop their knowledge and skills.
These include:
• Open Educational Resources (OER) made available through BAU’s educational technology resources.
• Free open educational resources for persons with disabilities, supporting inclusive access to learning.
• BAU’s public educational YouTube channel, providing access to educational and knowledge-sharing content.
• BAU Language Center’s public educational channel, providing language-learning and educational content.
