BAU’s Water Reuse Policy
BAU is strongly committed to implementing national water strategies and promoting the reuse of water resources across all its campuses. In line with SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), the university has adopted integrated systems that utilize rainwater harvesting, treated wastewater, and greywater reuse to enhance sustainability and reduce dependence on freshwater sources.
To support these initiatives, BAU established the Excellence Station for Water and Environmental Engineering and Technology, operating under the International Research Center for Water, Environment, and Energy (IRCWEE). This facility focuses on technology transfer, advanced research, and innovation in water treatment and reuse applications. Its research outcomes have played a pivotal role in shaping Jordan’s decentralized wastewater treatment strategy, reflecting the university’s influence in both policy and practice.
Through its ongoing projects, academic programs, and international collaborations, BAU has become a regional and international hub for researchers and trainees specializing in water reuse and treatment technologies. These efforts demonstrate the university’s commitment to sustainable water resource management, environmental stewardship, and advancing practical solutions to address water scarcity challenges in Jordan and beyond
