BAU actively promotes conscious water usage on campus through a combination of infrastructure, education, and practical initiatives. The university employs low-flow faucets, showerheads, and toilets, along with drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting systems, to reduce water consumption. BAU also tracks water usage across buildings to identify areas for improvement. Through the International Research Center for Water, Environment, and Energy (IRCWEE), BAU engages students, staff, and faculty in educational campaigns, workshops, and hands-on projects that raise awareness about sustainable water management, wastewater treatment, and water reuse. The university’s landscaping practices prioritize drought-tolerant and native plants, further conserving water.
