Water Consumption Tracking at BAU
At Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU), the total volume of water used across all campuses is sourced entirely from the national water network, managed by the Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation. The Ministry is responsible for drilling artesian wells to extract drinking water that supplies the national system. Each BAU campus is equipped with a main water meter to record total consumption from this network, along with submeters monitoring specific building clusters.
Water consumption primarily for drinking and sanitation purposes is measured monthly to ensure accurate monitoring and timely analysis of usage trends. In addition, collected rainwater is utilized internally for landscaping and irrigation, although this amount is not reflected in official billing records. To further enhance efficiency, water-saving devices have been installed in most facilities, contributing to a significant reduction in overall consumption and aligning with Jordan’s national water conservation strategy.
