Inform and Support Government
BAU plays a strategic role in supporting the Government of Jordan on climate change policy, mitigation, and adaptation. This is achieved through policy alignment, specialized research, and expert contributions to national committees.
Key mechanisms include:
- Policy Alignment: BAU’s Climate Action Plan (2022–2026) builds on the Jordanian National Climate Change Policy and serves as a model for climate action in higher education.
- Expert Contributions: Faculty from Water Resources, Environmental Management, and Agriculture actively participate in national technical teams and advisory bodies, integrating research on water conservation, drought management, and climate-smart agriculture into national strategies.
- Research for Adaptation: BAU’s research on water scarcity, drought, and wastewater reuse informs national resilience strategies and supports ministries such as Water and Irrigation and Agriculture.
- Partnerships: BAU collaborates with governmental bodies like the Greater Amman Municipality through MoUs on sustainable urban development, including waste management and green infrastructure, supporting local climate action.
