BAU has established a comprehensive wastewater treatment system integrated into its education, research, and sustainability programs. The university operates treatment facilities at its remote sites, including the Excellence Center for Water and Environmental Engineering and Technology, Princess Somiah Agricultural Research Station, Princess Rahma Campus, Jerash Campus, Al-Karak Campus, and the Smart Demonstration Station at Al-Fuhais.

The Al-Fuhais station uses advanced technologies such as Membrane Bio-Reactors (MBR), Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBR), and Constructed Wetlands to treat wastewater for reuse in irrigation. Supported by the International Research Center for Water, Environment, and Energy (IRCWEE), BAU promotes innovation, capacity building, and the reuse of treated water. These efforts contribute to sustainable water resource management and align with Jordan’s national water conservation strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
