Student Union
Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) demonstrates a comprehensive and well-structured approach to student representation and democratic engagement. The university operates a decentralized system under the Deanship of Student Affairs, overseeing student unions, scientific associations, and diverse clubs across all faculties, ensuring representation of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. These bodies function as an official student union structure, acting as a bridge between students and administration, advocating student interests, and delivering academic, social, and leadership activities. Democratic practices are strongly embedded through regulated annual elections governed by clear by laws, ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and active student participation in decision-making. Beyond institutional representation, BAU integrates its student bodies into national and international networks, such as the affiliation of the Medical Students Association with IFMSA-Jo and the active IEEE_BAU student branch, enhancing students’ global exposure and leadership skills. Supported by a wide range of student clubs and initiatives, this ecosystem fosters civic engagement, innovation, and community service, while promoting inclusiveness for international students and students with disabilities. Overall, BAU not only fulfills the requirement of having a recognized student union, but also cultivates a dynamic, participatory, and globally connected student community grounded in democratic values.
