Mental Health Support for Staff
Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) is committed to promoting the mental health and psychological well-being of its academic and administrative employees. Through staff well-being initiatives, mental-health awareness activities, professional development, and access to healthcare services, the University supports a healthy and supportive working environment that encourages psychological resilience, stress management, prevention, and access to professional care.
- Access to Mental Health Support
BAU provides its employees with access to healthcare through the University’s health insurance, which is available to staff, in accordance with the applicable university regulations and coverage arrangements. Through the Health Insurance Unit and its accredited medical network, employees can access a range of healthcare providers and specialised medical services, including psychiatric care through providers such as Al-Rashid Hospital. These arrangements facilitate access to professional consultation, assessment, and treatment, subject to the applicable coverage conditions and referral procedures.
The University’s accredited network supports access to healthcare providers across different areas, helping employees access appropriate services according to their needs and the available providers. This institutional provision forms part of BAU’s commitment to employee health, well-being, and access to professional care.
- Promoting Mental Health, Psychological Well-being, and Resilience in a Supportive Workplace
BAU actively promotes mental health among employees through educational seminars, awareness lectures, and life-skills training addressing psychological well-being, workplace stress, occupational burnout, and resilience. These initiatives encourage employees to recognise psychological challenges, develop practical coping strategies, and adopt approaches that support emotional well-being and a healthier working environment.
For example, on 6 November 2025, BAU’s Faculty of Nursing organised a scientific seminar entitled “Practical Applications for Enhancing Mental Health.” The seminar explored the causes and symptoms of psychological stress, prevention strategies, and practical techniques for managing stress and improving psychological well-being. Combining theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, the activity aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to manage academic and professional pressures effectively. Through such initiatives, BAU raises mental-health awareness, encourages preventive practices, and supports psychological well-being across the university community.
In addition, Princess Rahma University College organised An Awareness Lecture on Mental Health targeted students, academic staff, and administrative employees, highlighting the importance of mental health as a key component of academic and personal well-being. The session explored common psychological challenges, prevalent mental-health disorders, prevention approaches, and practical guidance for managing daily pressures in healthy and effective ways.
Through these initiatives, BAU strengthens mental-health awareness across its university community, encourages preventive practices, promotes psychological resilience, and supports a more informed, inclusive, and supportive university environment.
